WHO IS RAIN?

Rain Corbyn is an audiobook narrator and producer with over ten years and 120 titles experience. They have narrated for presses such as PM Press, Tenebrous, Weirdpunk, Crossroads, and Madness Heart; as well as authors Vera Valentine, Edward Lee, GM Fairy, Judith Sonnet, Joe Koch, and many more in the romance and horror indiesphere. They perform romance and smut as Richard Pendragon. Rain also writes and self-publishes their own work, so they understand what a relief it is to hear, "let me just take care of that for you."

Their narration has been a finalist for the Indie Ink Award for Best Narration five times, and won the 2023 award for Caylan MacRae's Cutting Your Teeth.

VISION STATEMENT

Haruspex was born from a belief that authors, publishers, and audio professionals deserve better. Right now, publishers who want audiobooks must either pay hundreds to thousands of dollars upfront, or get locked into predatory royalty share agreements that pay billionaires more than the artists. Oh, and the whole process is intimidatingly confusing.

No surprise, most indie books never get audiobooks at all. They should! Audiobooks are important accessibility tech, a revenue source that shouldn't be left on the table, and an exciting milestone for authors. I’m here to help.

As a former (recovering?) TV producer, I bring a concept-to-launch production perspective and Autistic attention to detail to all of Haruspex's projects. Let me share my hard-won knowledge and expand the audience for your awesome stories.

Fuck AI. Storytelling is what makes us human. Our contracts assert that both Haruspex and our clients have not used generative AI in any part of the book, art, or audio, and that we will not knowingly allow our art to be used to train these extractive, immoral, environmentally disastrous, and deeply loserish systems.
